The Fabric Library

Answer three quick questions and we'll recommend the right fabric for your suit.

New to fabric? The three basics

What it's made of. Pure wool feels softest and drapes most naturally. Blends add polyester, so they resist creases, wear well and cost less.

How heavy it is. Light keeps you cool in summer. Medium works most of the year. Heavier fabric keeps you warm and holds a sharper shape.

Its pattern. Plain goes everywhere, so start there for a first suit. Texture, stripes and checks add character.

Which colour should I choose?

Navy is the most versatile colour: work, weddings and evenings. Charcoal comes next. Black is for evenings and ceremonies. Brown suits daytime and smart-casual. Burgundy and green are for standing out.
